​About me and about my writing projects---

Hi....
      I started writing when I was in high school, and at college, I continued that interest.  Later, much later, when I was rearing my family (two daughters and a son), I began writing for a newspaper. That work evolved into writing feature articles and op-eds. I later began writing books and plays. I love drama and good theatre. 
     Justin Was a Terror was written for junior readers, but i have discovered adults like it just as much. (I'm working on a script based on this book.) Murder They wrote --on Kindle-- is an anthology in which I contributed a literary fiction story.   
      The Dentist's Garden  is also on Kindle. It's a  story about friendships, relationships, and  nature.   My Tacking Forward is a collection of 12 short stories about  living fully ,  hanging on even as  children grow up and leave home,  and as life's conditions and routines change.
       This Red Earth and Beyond this Red Earth (2 books of a series)  are eBooks (and paperback) on Amazon and are set in the rural South. They reflect changing social attitudes and cultural mores     from the 1780s to 2003. 
          My books should appeal to readers who like history, romance,  family sagas, Americana, and Southern  fiction.  
          For 15 years, I wrote a personal opinion column called "View & Review." Some  feature articles I researched and  wrote for  Traces of Indiana & Midwestern History  include:  "The Smash-Up Kid," "The DeKalb Boxing Club," "The Creek Chub Bait Company," and "The Auburn Rubber Company."  For a time, I wrote restaurant reviews for Fort Wayne magazine. 

       My  play/script "The Smash-Up Kid" (which tells the story of pioneer aviator Art Smith) has been performed  successfully as a  history program. With accompanying slides of original photographs, the life of this adventurous aviator comes to life.    
    Currently much of my time is devoted to writing plays and scripts.  My play "Gentry's Auction" won top honors at the Indiana Theatre Conference. My script "Karoly's Promise" received a "Top 10"   designation on the Trigger Street website. I've also written plays for children and  commemorative events  such as our local library's Centennial Celebration. I am a member of the American Dramatist Guild.
        I love writing dialogue. I'm always looking and listening  for a good  story,  an intriguing conflict,  and/or  a couple of interesting characters. What more can a writer want or need?   One thing:  an objective reader/critic friend. I'm fortunate to have  several.
